Association of Civil Engineers (ACE)
Malé, Maldives
Date: 13 August 2025
The Association of Civil Engineers (ACE) held its scheduled meeting today, 13 August 2025, with the Construction Industry Development Department (CIDD) of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure. The meeting convened as planned to address several key issues affecting the engineering community.
Discussions on the matters tabled were, however, postponed to a later date. This decision was necessitated by the absence of all key CIDD staff responsible for the issues under consideration. The Ministry has committed to informing ACE of the rescheduled meeting date in due course.
ACE wishes to re-iterate its concern over the delay in engaging on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, as well as the lack of opportunity to address other important agenda items submitted for discussion. These delays hinder both the timely advancement of professional standards and the implementation of improvements vital to the engineering sector.
ACE remains committed to collaborating with the CIDD to ensure that licensing, renewal, and CPD frameworks are concluded swiftly and effectively. We look forward to reconvening at the earliest possible date to continue these essential discussions.
