Date: 1 July 2025
The Association of Civil Engineers (ACE) held a productive meeting with the Construction Industry Development Department (CIDD) of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.
The primary purpose of this engagement was to initiate a collaborative series of consultative monthly meetings, as envisioned by CIDD, to strengthen institutional dialogue and foster ongoing improvements in the built-environment sector.
During this initial meeting, the CIDD introduced a formalized format for the submission of matters for discussion, aiming to enhance the structure and efficiency of upcoming consultations.
In line with its continued commitment to professional development and regulatory reform, ACE reiterated and re-submitted its proposal to work alongside CIDD in facilitating a more streamlined and transparent system for engineering licensing and renewal. Furthermore, ACE expressed its readiness to assist in developing a framework for the effective implementation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements associated with licensing.
ACE remains committed to advocating for the advancement of civil engineering and the broader built environment in the Maldives, and looks forward to the forthcoming series of discussions with CIDD.
